Purpose: 
OPSF Kids Club and Pre-K are committed to providing a safe environment for all students, including those with known food or other allergies.

Parent/Guardian Notification & Medication:
Parents/guardians are responsible for notifying the program of any known allergies and providing necessary medical information and documentation. Program staff will work with the parent/guardian to obtain any prescribed emergency medication needed to appropriately respond to the child's known allergy.

Medication Storage:
Emergency allergy medication provided for a child will be stored in a designated, secure location that is readily accessible to trained staff in the event of an emergency. Staff will be informed of the location of the medication and the child's individual allergy needs.

Emergency Response

If a child shows signs of a severe allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, staff will:

1. Call 911 immediately.

2. Contact the school nurse, if available, and/or designated trained staff.

3. Check the child's airway, breathing, and responsiveness.

4. Administer or assist in administering prescribed emergency medication, including epinephrine, according to the child's medical plan or applicable standing order.

5. Continuously monitor the child until emergency medical services arrive.

6. Administer CPR if necessary and if trained to do so.

7. Contact the child's parent/guardian immediately.

8. Any child who receives epinephrine will be transported to a medical facility for further evaluation and monitoring.

This plan is based on Nebraska DHHS anaphylaxis response guidance effective July 1, 2026.
